At Starrz, the curried goat 'is starting to catch on'

If you're tired of burgers and pasta, jazz up your dinners out with a little curried goat, jerk chicken, and rice and peas.

The curried goat is "starting to catch on," said chef Britten Andrews of Starrz Sports Lounge.

Starrz opened six months ago at 1128 Winchester Road, in a small shopping center behind Sonic Drive-In. Andrews, a graduate of Sullivan University, said his culinary skills were heavily influenced by his parents, who are from Costa Rica.

Starrz is open for dinner from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturday. Call (859) 246-1117.

Merrick Inn, Murray's get in the spirits

Merrick Inn and Murray's Restaurant are having Halloween parties Friday. The Grey Ghost parties will begin at 5 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes, and Grey Goose drinks are $5.

Speaking of Murray's, some changes are taking place there beginning Monday.

The restaurant will be open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. serving salads, sandwiches and entrees. A "Pub Grub" menu will be available from 9 p.m. to midnight featuring appetizers and sandwiches. A new "In-and-Out" special is for those who want to eat an early dinner. If you pay the check by 6:30 p.m., you'll get 20 percent off. On Monday nights, the special is slow-roasted prime rib for $16.95.

Creepy Karaoke is back

Jason Walls, the new chef at Wines on Vine, has expanded the dinner menu for fall and winter. New dishes include filet, hen and pasta. Chili is back on the menu for lunch, which is served from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday dinner on Saturday night
