At its best, last night's three-hour American Idols Live ­marathon was a vindication. ­Admittedly, much of it wasn't. But there were instances – teases, almost – where the concert possessed the level of pop smarts that outpaced the juggernaut TV series from which it was sprung.

'Til We See the Shore | 4 stars out of 5 | Traveling with Seabird, we see a lot. The Northern Kentucky band's debut album is a journey from pain to ­victory, with strong images including the ­beginning of a long-delayed romance, a victim claiming victory, and a dying soul claiming its salvation.
